Cat Vitamins – Does Your Cat Really Need Them?

You, one of your friends or family members might have already taken any vitamin supplements, but does your cat actually need them?

Well, I think it really depends. Just giving cat vitamins to your feline friend without any specific reason probably doesn’t make any sense.

On the other hand, there are various reasons where it probably would make sense to add vitamin supplements to your cats diet:

  • If your cat is lethargic, tired or shows a lack of energy over a period of at least 2-3 weeks.

  • If the coat of your cat looks greasy, dull or bedraggled.

  • Your cat has watery eyes or looks depressed

  • When your cats diet is relatively unbalanced

  • Also, in general it’s a good idea to supplement your cats diet with vitamins for a few weeks just before winter time – this will greatly strengthen your cats immune system and make it less prone for infections.

Some people recommend giving cat vitamins all year long. I don’t agree with this – not at all. An overdose of vitamins can do more harm than good. I usually supplement my cats diet with vitamins only twice a year: In October/November and in March/April. Each vitamin cure lasts about 3-4 weeks and I make sure, my cat gets a healthy and balanced over the entire year.

I started doing these vitamin cures about 4 years ago. Back then, my cat always looked tired and depressed and it was sleeping most of the time. These symptoms lasted for 2 or maybe 3 months. Of course, I took my cat to the veterinarian, but no specific cause for the problem could be found.

Then, one of my friends told me that I should try to supplement my cats diet with multi vitamins for a few weeks. At first, I just laughed and I thought what a strange idea. Back then, I didn’t even know that something like cat vitamins even existed.

Still, I thought it might be well worth giving it a try and so I decided to supplement my cats diet with vitamins. And who would have thought this? – Already after 2 weeks the health of my cat greatly improved: The fatigue and lack of energy gradually disappeared and the coat of my cat became once again shiny and healthy.

Now, there are various cat vitamin supplements available. Many of them can easily be ordered on the Internet. The one I usually use is called Pet Bounce Multi Vitamin. Here is the website link if you want to check it out: Cat Vitamin Supplements

For the first order, they usually give you a free trial – you only pay for shipping, which is something around $5-$6 as far as I remember.

Simply provide your name and address details on the main page and select the desired shipping option on the second page – that’s all. That way, you (well, your cat) can try the vitamins for free.

You will get a 2 month supply, which in my opinion is enough for an entire year. As I already mentioned, do one 3-4 week cure in November and a second one in April. Don’t use the cat vitamins over the entire year – in my opinion that’s too much and won’t add any additional benefits.

Good luck and please let me know how your cat responds to the vitamin supplements.
